R.I.P. - G John Collett

John Collett passed away last Thursday at the age of 93. He was a past president of the Eastern branch and played a leading role in ringing in the branch and the Boston area. He was involved with the Kirton in Holland band for many years and latterly ran the Butterwick practices alongside Tom Freeston. He was one of ringing's 'characters' and lots of you who rang with him will have many stories to tell!!

John moved to Burford in Gloucestershire a few years ago to be nearer his family. From Burford he always took an interest in what we were up to in Butterwick and Boston! For as long as he could make the journey he returned each October for the Eastern branch race night to present the Betty Collett cup to the winner - which he donated in memory of his wife.

He died peacefully just 6 days after being admitted to a hospice.

RIP John.
