R.I.P. - Gwen Bloomfield

Gwen Bloomfield a prominent Lincolnshire ringer has died at the age of 92, at home in Felixstowe. She learned to ring in Grimsby in 1947 ringing her first peal there the following year. She rang 320 peals in total - 294 of which were for the Lincoln Guild. Of these 199 peals were with Jack Millhouse, 147 with Geoff Parker and 102 with her husband Frank. As well as being a member of the Cumberlands she was a member of the Cathedral Companie. She rang 25 peals at the Cathedral indeed her last peal in 1996 was a peal of Stedman Cinques at the Cathedral. Moving away from Wellingore to Felixstowe - she gave up ringing in 2012 to look after her husband who died in 2017, by which time worsening arthritis in her hands meant she could not return to ringing She dedicated much of her ringing time to service ringing and practices.
