Report for young ringers day 14/02

Lincolnshire’s young ringers held their first meeting of the year today (14/02/2023) in the Newark area of Nottinghamshire. Thirteen young ringers assembled with their helpers/transporters to ring at 3 super rings of bells. The afternoon started at a lovely little 6 in Coddington. We chased away the fog with our ringing which included rounds and call changes, plain bob, double bob, plain hunt and Cambridge. We were treated to hot and cold drinks by our hosts before enjoying a picnic in church, giving us all chance to get to know each other as many had not met before. After lunch we made the short journey in the sunshine to our next tower, Hawton, a very grand tower housing a new 14cwt ring of 10. Here we rung mainly rounds and plain hunt, with our adult helpers keen to ‘grab’ the tower too. Our last tower was Balderton. The beautiful ring of 8 enabled us to showcase our best ringing including a course of Stedman Triples for 3 of us along with some of our adult helpers.

Many thanks to Sue Faull for organising our outing and to our helpers, supporters and parents for transport, encouragement and assistance with ringing. Thank you to Chris Turner our Guild Master for coming along to all our events and showing continual support and to the Guild for sponsoring the outing. Any young ringers who want to be involved in future events please contact Sue Faull.
