807th Right Worshipful Mayor of Lincoln |
|
(The 807th Right Worshipful Mayor of Lincoln, Councillor Patrick Vaughan,
behind City Sheriff, Patricia Carter.)
On Tuesday 14th May 2013 the bells at the Parish & Civic Church of St. Mary-le-Wigford pealed out over the City of Lincoln to welcome the new Mayor, Councillor Patrick Vaughan, as the 807th Right Worshipful Mayor of Lincoln.
The now traditional quarter peal was rung immediately prior to the ancient City Mayor Making Ceremony which took place at the Citys Guildhall and where the new Mayor was sworn into office, a tradition dating back to 1206.
The Ringers at St. Mary-le-Wigford enjoy a very close relationship with the Mayor and the Civic Party by providing ringing at the City centre Church for Civic & City Occasions throughout the year. We wish Councillor Vaughan well during his term in Office as Lincolns first citizen and hope he has an enjoyable and successful year as Mayor of Lincoln.
We also congratulate and say goodbye to Councillor Vaughans predecessor, Councillor Karen Lee, the 806th Right Worshipful Mayor of Lincoln, on completing her year in Office.
The new Civic Party for 2013/2014 is as follows:
Right Worshipful Mayor of Lincoln: Councillor Patrick Vaughan
Mayoress: Lorna Stow
City Sheriff: Patricia Carter
Sheriffs Consort: Maurice Carter
Deputy Mayor: Councillor Yvonne Bodger
Deputy Mayors Consort: Gerald Gladwell
(New Civic Party on the steps of the Guildhall following the Mayor Making Ceremony.
L-R: Maurice Carter - Sheriffs Consort; Patricia Carter - City Sheriff; Lorna Stow - Mayoress;
