Branch and Guild Jubilee Celebrations
This page contains pretty much all of the information so far received from the individual branches, on what they did to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Right at the bottom is the Guild celebration at Wragby, along with some pictures.
This page is pretty much a work in progress and may well get added to as more information comes in. Please watch this space.

Young Jubilee ringers
Congratulations to four of our newest recruits:
Charlotte Beaver, Samantha Bacon, Annmarie Saxton-Howes and Carl Fraser.
These young people have only been learning to ring since mid March this year but were able to take part in our celebratory Jubilee ringing on Sunday 3rd June (at Sempringham - see below). This is a huge achievement for them and gives us great hope for the future of church bell ringing in the Billingborough group of parishes. Campanology is unfortunately a dying art, so if you would like to give these youngsters a run for their money please contact me for further details - we always have room for new learners or returning ringers.

The peal, organised by Joan Payne, started at 9.35am and took 2 hrs 55 min to complete the 5040 changes. It is intended to record the details of the peal on a board in the ringing chamber where other boards hang recording previous significant events. The details are as follows

Northern Branch - Jubilee Ringing
Here are some pictures of the Northern Branch ringing on Jubilee Day. Not sure which tower this is. It didn't say. These are a selection of pictures taken by Eliseu Roig. Eliseu has chosen to do these in black and white for a more dramatic effect. For more examples of Eliseu's work, visit his website at www.eliseuroig.com

Elloe Deaneries - Ringing down the Welland
On Monday 4th June 2012 church bells were rung 'down the river Welland' from it's source at Sibbertoft to the Wash. The ringing started early in the morning and continued throughout the day, finished in the evening with ringing at Surfleet and finally Fosdyke. 19 ringers were joined by Surfleet villagers, shown in my photo, as all 12 bells were rung for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Annette Rhodes then provided a hot dog supper in a suitably decorated Fraiser Room next to Surfleet church. On the way home we saw the beacon had been lit.

An epic amount of ringing has been submitted by Chris Woodcock in association with the Jubilee celebrations. Time being against me somewhat (webmaster) I have converted the whole lot to PDF and linked to it here

Guild Jubilee Celebrations - 5th June 2012
The day started with the individual branches making their way through their own territory, ringing at towers along the way, until we eventually converged on the church of All Saint's at Wragby. For the next hour, a variety of ringing took place from rounds and call changes to some Surprise Minor, a bit of something for everyone.
Later on we moved over to the Town Hall for the rest of the celebration and the Guild Photograph. Unfortunately the webmaster was unable to report on the events at the town hall, so Alistair Cherry has kindly penned the following paragraphs.
"The Diamond Jubilee long weekend ended with a guild event at Wragby on Tuesday 5th June attended by ringers from across the Lincoln Guild, following individual ringing by 5 of the different branches. The event was well attended by members of all branches, who rang together at Wragby church before moving on to the town hall for tea.
After tea, there were a variety of activities in the town hall, including tune ringing on bell plates and handbells (provided by Mick & Betty Stracey, Sue Faull and Ian and Joy Till), a chance to try out ringing on a mini ring, provided by Alistair Donaldson, and several games including Jenga, which proved louder than any of the bell related activities!"
Harry Minns from Caistor was celebrating his 96th Birthday this week as well as ringing for the Jubilee celebrations. Harry cut the Guild cake, baked to celebrate the occasion.
Many thanks to all those who participated and for those who provided the activities and the tea and coffee, which was provided by Dot Mason, and Gill and Alison Gladman.
And now here are some pictures.
