Eastern Branch Meeting at Boston Stump
1st March 2014
1st March 2014
It was a good deal warmer than you might have expected when I rolled up in Boston town centre. After having parked I made my way towards "The Stump". As I walked into the churchyard, the bells were just being rung up.
I made my way up the tower, just in time for the start of the ringing. There was a good attendance and representatives from other branches were present. Ringing ranges from Rounds and Call Changes to Plain Bob, Grandsire Caters and Little Bob Royal.
In between ringing we could walk up the stairs and onto the balcony for stunning scenes over Boston, taking care to avoid the remains of assorted pigeons that had been left by the Stump's resident peregrine falcon. There was also the now traditional look down through the "trapdoor" in the dome, to the floor below. People afraid of heights should probably avoid this.
After the ringing we made our way down to the church, where tea coffee and cake was being served. We drank coffee and chatted before making our way home, the Central Branch contingent getting waylaid in the rather excellent "Tate's Chippy" on the way out.
Another good meeting (as always) at Boston Stump, Long may it continue
