The Consecration of the 72nd Bishop of Lincoln
Most readers will be aware that almost all services in connection with major Royal, State and Church events take place at Westminster Abbey. Unusually it is a tradition for bellringing on these occasions to take place after the service and understandably a very high standard of ringing is expected. The Abbey has its own Company of Bellringers and it is quite rare for any ringer who is not a member to be invited to ring the Abbey bells. It was, therefore, a surprise for Christopher Woodcock, who rings at Potterhanworth, when he received an invitation to ring at the Abbey on Wednesday 21 September after the Consecration by the Archbishop of Canterbury of the next Bishop of Lincoln.
This must have been a nerveracking experience and Chris deserves our congratulations.
