West Lindsey Branch, Carry On Striking - 19th March 2016
Our monthly branch meeting was held at St Peterís, Bottesford on March 19th. There was an excellent turnout - well over 30 ringers - to concentrate on Rounds and Call Changes for our large group of fairly new ringers. Alison Elwess, assistant ringing master, took charge and kept everyone busy. A number of the St Simonís group of methods were also rung for the more advanced ringers.
After a cup of tea and a biscuit, the party headed off to Ashby Bowl where we occupied four adjacent lanes. Fortunately the place was not too busy as we made enough noise for about 10 lanes. A very enjoyable hour was had by all.
It was commented that there were some people whose striking at bowling was better than in the tower, but we like to think that the majorityís ringing striking is better than their bowling striking - as evidenced by the number of balls that ended up going down the gullies, or going backwards, ably demonstrated by Barbara.
Thanks very much to secretary, Tracey, for all her hard work in organising the afternoon.
