On Friday 4th November, Ron Applewhite as the oldest member of the Potterhanworth band, presented Church Childrens Achievement Awards Credit Certificates for climbing the tower at Potterhanworth CE Primary Schools Celebration Assembly. Dave Rose the Diocese Children and Youth Officer was also present.

About forty year 5 and 6 children had climbed to the belfry to hear about bells and bell ringing from Yvonne and Christopher Woodcock. In addition to gaining a credit for climbing the tower they gained a credit for naming the parts of a bell and another for naming the dedication each bell. Ten credits are required for an award and it is hoped more credits will be gained by learning to ring a bell. Previously the Award Scheme had applied to teenagers and this was an attempt at extending it to include younger children.
