Ron Applewhite 88

Branston Quarter Peal Band L-R: Christine Jackson, Ron Applewhite, Janet Risdale, Yvonne Woodcock, Christopher Woodcock & Rachel Woodcock

On Saturday 26th January 2008 Ron Applewhite of Potterhanworth Lincolnshire celebrated his 88th Birthday! To mark the occasion Ron rang in a Quarter Peal of Single Oxford Bob Minor at one of his local towers, All Saints Church Branston with the local band. The following day on Sunday 27th January 2008 a Quarter Peal of Grandsire Triples was rung at St. John’s Church Washingborough by a Central Branch band of the Lincoln Diocesan Guild.

Ron learned to ring as a young lad at St. John’s Church Washingborough and was later a member of the Branston Surprise Minor band that rang many peals in the 1950’s & 60’s. Ron is a loyal and regular supporter of ringing in his local towers and branch and was made an Honorary Life Member of the Lincoln Diocesan Guild in 2004.

Happy Birthday Ron and we look forward to ringing in many more Birthday Quarters with you!!!
