Guild 6-bell Striking Competitions


The final of this year's Guild Striking Contest was held in the Southern Branch on Saturday 8 September 2007, with eight teams competing at Irnham for the John Freeman Cup, and seven at Rippingale for the Edward Colley Plate. The first two teams from the Branch Striking Competitions compete for the Cup and the third and fourth teams compete for the Plate.

An excellent tea was provided by Southern Branch members at Kirkby Underwood, where general ringing also took place.

The results of the competitions were as follows (top three shown for each):

Edward Colley Plate:

1. Sleaford (43)
2. Market Deeping "Allstars" (44)
3. Alford (45)

The judge was Chris Turner of Stow.

John Freeman Cup:

1. Market Deeping A: (34)
2. Kirton: (44.5)
3. Bourne (45.5)

The judge was David Phillipson, now of Olney, a former Lincoln Cathedral ringer.
