Branch events

Please check in The Ringing World or with the appropriate Branch website or Secretary for further information.

Mid-week Practices

The idea of the above programme is to try and advance all our Tuesday (Wednesday in the case of Wragby) ringing meetings and not to frighten people away. We will still continue to ring our usual methods and include the new methods wherever possible.

After the Tuesday Washingborough meetings, there is usually a faith tea at Woodside, Branston afterwards - if you intend to come please email Dot Mason regarding food you wish to bring to share to avoid duplication.

The new Major methods are the 8ths place variations of the standard methods (i.e. Plain Hunt at the lead end).

If you would like to ring any other surprise methods please ask and we will do our best to include them. If you have any questions please email Phil Mason

Joint Surprise Major Practices

Occasional Surprise Major practices are arranged between the Northern and West Lindsey Branches. If you are interested in supporting these please contact one of these Branch Secretaries for details, but please do remember that they are Surprise Major practices, so do not turn up expecting to ring Bob Minor! We need to look after and challenge our more advanced ringers, and these busy practices serve that need across a wide area. Dates when known are included in the table above.

South Lincolnshire Wednesday Group

If you do not regularly attend these practices please telephone Joan Payne on 01778 560633 for any changes to this schedule.

8 Bell Practices

There is a regular 8 bell method practice held at Washingborough, usually on the 4th Saturday of the month at 1030. This will cater for the needs of those who turn up, but it is an "8 bell" practice, so don't expect any Minor methods to be rung. Triples is OK and we regularly ring Stedman and Grandsire. The minimum we would expect to ring is Plain Bob Major, but the band is usually capable of ringing more advanced methods like Double Norwich and Surprise Major and it would be unusual if we didn't attempt some Spliced Surprise Major.

Handling Practices

There is a bell handling practice held at Wragby, usually on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, from 1400 until 1600. This is run by the Central Branch Ringing Master (Colin Ward) but it is open to all. Note this is tied bell practice (the clappers are silenced), although thanks to the simulator, the sound of the bells can be heard electronically in the ringing room. This is a practice aimed at absolute beginners with the intention of getting them to handle a bell correctly. The practice is in two parts, the first session is aimed at teaching and improving bell-handling; the second part involves rounds, call changes and foundation skill in change ringing. If you've not been before please email to let him know you're coming and what you'd like to achieve.

The Ladies Practice

The Ladies have their own practice on the second Tuesday of each month starting at 1330, usually at Middle Rasen. If you are eligible (i.e. female) and would like to attend please email Sue Faull as the practices sometimes get cancelled
